Russo's team remains firm
Boca drew 0-0 against Libertad from Paraguay in La Bombonera and managed to reach the second round of the Copa Libertadores. But with that, he also left a historic mark that will be difficult to match: 16 times in a row through the group stage.
Since he started playing in 2000, Boca has never been out of the Cup in the first phase. The last time it happened was in 1994 when he shared a group with Vélez, Palmeiras and Cruzeiro. After that edition, Xeneize did not play in the Cup until 2000 and then chained 16 times in the second round.
The times he did not succeed was because he did not play it: And that only happened in the Libertadores 2006, 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2017.
The brand was from América de Cali , which achieved the same but from 1985 to 2003 (with absences in some editions). The truth is that Boca is already in the eighth and possibly classifies first in their group.
The draw for the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores will be next October 24, in Asunción, the headquarters of Conmebol.
